Legs, Lungs & Heart

I competed in the Cap10K today, and ran for 1:03:20.  I’ll say that again – as my 16 year old self goes “Holy shit!” – I ran for over an hour.  I know there are people that do that all the time, but 6 months ago, I was winded after 2.5 mi,  and 1 month ago, even 4 miles were tough, so frankly, I’m super proud of my 6 miles.

My legs are sore, my back hurts, and I can hear the cartilage in my knee crackle when I stretch, but I feel great. I loved seeing all 17,000 of us come together out there – women and men, young, old and in betweeners, people already fit and those getting fit, those wearing costumes or fancy running gear – all of us striving for the finish line.   I felt a great connection to them.  Of course the gorgeous background of downtown Austin and Lady Bird Lake was wonderful.

Thank you Anthony for running with me and helping me to train.  Thank you volunteers for cheering and supporting us.  Thank legs, back, lungs and heart.  Couldn’t have done it without all of you!
